When you see model Molly Bair, you might be reminded of her work with fashion’s biggest names, including Prada, Alexander Wang, Stella McCartney, and Marc Jacobs. Now, Molly is harnessing her star power to train a spotlight on the issue of global pollution.

As announced in Vogue, Molly will be working with Pure Earth to #FightPollution by raising awareness and funds to support cleanup projects in the world’s worst polluted places, where poor families and children live with poison every day.

Molly Bair’s voice will be an important one in the fight against toxic pollution. She can help reach a whole generation of people who are committed to environmental causes, but are not aware of pollution’s impact.

Pollution in the air, water and soil is the largest cause of death in the world–three times larger than HIV, malaria and TB combined–stealing almost 10 million lives prematurely every year. While pollution has no boundaries, poor children are most vulnerable. The development of their bodies and brains are disrupted, and the damage can be irreversible.

With the support of Molly, her friends and followers, we can raise awareness about this environmental and health crisis, and share the good news that solutions are simple and affordable! At Pure Earth, we’ve cleaned up life-threatening pollution in communities where children were dying, for as little as $5 per person.”

Why FightPollution?

  • It is one of the biggest global killers Almost 10 million people die each year from pollution, three times more than TB, HIV and malaria combined. Yet pollution is one of the most underfunded problems in the world.  Poor children and women are the most vulnerable
  • The connection between toxic mercury and gold 30% of the world’s mercury emissions comes from artisanal and small-scale gold mining, which produces about 25% of the world’s gold used in jewelry, electronics, etc.  Do you know where your gold comes from?
  • Pollution has no boundaries Mercury used and burned by artisanal and small-scale gold miners around the world evaporates, rises into the atmosphere, travels the globe, and comes back down into waterways, contaminating oceans, lakes and soil. It transforms into deadly methyl-mercury in fish like tuna – the reason why women need to restrict the seafood they eat during pregnancy. And mercury lingers. It can take decades or even centuries for toxic mercury to cycle through the environment. It transfers back and forth between soil and water and the atmosphere over the years.
