The overall goal of this project is to promote the improved health, livelihoods and living conditions of artisanal gold mining communities at the rural Province of Canta in Lima Region, Peru, by building community and local government capacity to make and implement environmentally sound and occupationally safe decisions that reduce the impacts of mercury contamination from ASGM.
After introducing the Filipino mercury-free method, the team is conducting regular follow-ups to monitor its adoption in local communities.
