PURE EARTH DAY: Join Pure Partners To Clean Up Communities Around The World

Photo: Pure Earth and Niantic Labs mobilized hundreds of Pokemon Go players in three countries, including this group in Mexico, to clean up their communities and learn about pollution for Earth Day 2019.

What is Pure Earth Day?

The Pure Earth Day campaign invites companies, individuals, schools and… YOU to become Pure Partners during Earth Day Week, to clean up communities and support Pure Earth’s global work to reduce pollution, save lives, and protect the planet.

Pure Earth Day provides a range of opportunities for everyone to be a part of the pollution solution, so that children living in some of the world’s worst polluted places have a chance to grow up healthy, and their families can live without being poisoned.

How it Works

Pure Partners can choose to work with Pure Earth in a variety of ways, and at a level of commitment that works for them. Some organize community and corporate cleanup events, others may host Pure Earth Day parties, and many retail Pure Partners donate a percentage of their sales on all or select items.  Pure Earth Day activities may extend beyond the Earth Day period as part of our ongoing Pure Earth Day Every Day campaign.

Why Pure Earth Day?

By joining us as a partner or participant for Pure Earth Day, you can help save lives.

Pollution is the largest environmental cause of premature death and disease in the world today. It kills 3Xs more people than malaria, TB and HIV/AIDS combined; 15Xs more than wars and all forms of violence, and manifests itself in diseases from cancers to heart disease and strokes. Pollution has also been linked to physical and neurological developmental delays and IQ loss that affects children the most. Because Pollution Knows No Borders, it reaches us all in the air, water, and through the food and products we buys and use every day. Watch the 1.5 minute VIDEO below to learn more about the global pollution crisis.

Pokemon Go Events in 3 Countries

Pure Earth partnered with Niantic Labs to mobilize hundreds of Pokemon Go players in three countries to clean up and learn about pollution and pollution solutions in local communities.

In Mexico, over 350 Pokemon Go players signed up to join Pure Earth in cleaning up Los Remedios Park in Mexico City. In the Philippines, about 100 people took part in a four-day event featuring two river cleanups in Muntinlupa City and Quezon City, and two ecobrick-making workshops that showed participants how to turn plastic garbage into building materials. In Senegal, over 125 people signed up to take part in a beach cleanup at Baie de Hann in Dakar.
