The objective of the project is to improve the health of vulnerable communities exposed to lead paint and the recycling of used lead acid batteries (ULABs) in Indonesia and the Philippines. The project will work through the following major components:
1) Enable local government agencies etc to better understand the scope of contamination from lead and identify feasible solutions to mitigate exposure risk;
2) Develop recommendations for action to phase out lead in paint and unsafe ULAB recycling practices;
3) Build local capacity of government agencies and national stakeholders to take concrete action to minimize the adverse effects of lead on human health.
