With great enthusiasm, Pure Earth Mexico celebrated its successful participation in the 2025 Diplomatic Cultural Bazaar, organized by the Asociación de Cónyuges de Diplomáticos A.C., on Wednesday, May 14 2025 in Mexico City. This year’s edition featured the remarkable presence of the Women Potters’ Circle from San Marcos Acteopan, Puebla, who are part of Pure Earth Mexico’s community program promoting traditional lead-free pottery.
Under the leadership and guidance of renowned chef and advocate Graciela Montaño, the participating artisans had the opportunity to exhibit and sell their handmade pieces—honoring their cultural heritage while using safe, lead-free techniques that protect the health of both producers and consumers.
“These kinds of spaces not only make visible the talent and dedication of our pottery communities but also drive an urgent transformation: the transition toward safe production that preserves life without abandoning tradition,” said Chef Montaño.
The exhibition and sale featured casseroles, jugs, plates, and other utensils created by women potters who, thanks to the program’s technical and educational support, have replaced lead-based glazes with safe alternatives. The display and sale of lead-free pieces at this event represent a double victory: protecting the health of those who produce and use these items, while opening paths for fair and sustainable markets for artisan communities.
